Balakas & Co. Insurance is committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technology. Accessibility isn't a box we check once. It's something we keep working at.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor differences.
What we've built in
- An on-page accessibility menu with controls for high contrast, larger and smaller text, a more readable font, highlighted links, increased spacing, reduced motion, and a larger cursor.
- Semantic, structured HTML so screen readers can navigate the content in a logical order.
- A visible skip-to-content link and clear keyboard focus styles for navigating without a mouse.
- Text that scales smoothly and layouts that adapt to your screen and zoom level.
- Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images and labels on form fields.
- Respect for your system preference to reduce motion.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site rely on third-party tools, such as the Google Translate feature, which we don't fully control. We do our best to choose accessible tools and to address issues as we find them. If you run into a barrier anywhere on the site, we want to hear about it.
